My Beautiful Caterpillar
She felt so heavy
Because she ate all day
If only she had her way
But she did nothing more
Some called her flabby
Some even called her lazy
She sat here and she sat there
All sad and gloomy
She tried to fit in
But it wasn't to be
No one wanted her near
She was just a lazy old caterpillar
She had had enough
She felt chocked up
She felt really trapped
And breathing was tough
It's all coming to an end
Alas she felt relief
She knew the pain was going to end finally
It got dark and it got scary
She couldn't feel a thing
Her cocoon so stiff
She couldn't make a move
With her eyes closed
And her mind shut
She took her last breath
This was the end she thought
She was certain it was.
But wait!
What was going on now
She could open her eyes again
She heard a loud crack
She saw the light
And it was so bright
She could breathe again
The breath of fresh air, new air, good air
With the Joy of a new day
She burst open
Leaving her cocoon behind
What a marvel, she could fly!
With wings so beautiful
It made her stand out
She couldn't believe her eyes
She felt super light
Oh yes! She was bright.
How radiating she was
With colours so unique
Everyone called her beautiful
They called her special too
How high she could float
And she was lighter than air
Now she knew that the world was indeed fair
How Joyful it was
She embraced the change
And she loved her for her
A beautiful butterfly she was
Yet deeply she knew
She was the same old caterpillar
And she had so much peace.
Fly fly away
My beautiful caterpillar.
